Kids learn when they have fun with you!

I can't emphasize enough how important it is for kids to have fun while learning. And in my opinion, your children will have the most fun and acquire great knowledge when the person they learn from is YOU.

When it comes to teaching my kids, my philosophy is very simple:

- Don't place unnecessary pressure on them. Let them enjoy learning.
Why pressure them to read Shakespeare or do math like a rocket scientist at such a young age? What's important is that they enjoy what they do. As adults, we often find ourselves in situations where we are being forced to do stuff that we don't find appealing (e.g. taking up a job you hate because the money is good). My kids when they become adults will face the same thing as well. But for now, i'm not going to take that care free period away from them.

- The best person to teach them is you!
Your kids look up to you. You are the person in their lives. When you teach them and share knowledge with them in a fun way, they appreciate you and are able to connect with you. Don't give away that responsibility to someone else. Try to find the time to:  Read to them. Talk to them. Tell stories and sit with them when they are engaged in activities.

- Give them time...Don't over do it.
They can get restless, noisy and shift their focus to something else. Be patient. It's normal to get frustrated. If you do, just take a break. Relax and don't get tense. Kids can sense it and the more tense and frustrated you become, the more they will dislike an activity.
